WSA Show 2025: (un)fold
End-of-a-year exhibition of student projects at Welsh School of Architecture
End-of-a-year exhibition of student projects at Welsh School of Architecture
The 2025 WSA End of Year Exhibition brought together work from students across the BSc, MArch, and Postgraduate Taught programmes, celebrating a year of exploration, experimentation, and architectural inquiry. Under the theme (un)fold, the exhibition examined architecture as a layered and evolving discipline - where ideas, stories, and research are folded into proposals and revealed through reflection, interaction, and critique.
This year’s show marked a significant evolution in format and ambition. For the first time, the exhibition extended beyond the walls of the Bute Building with the introduction of a purpose-built outdoor pavilion. Designed and constructed by the exhibition team, the pavilion served as both a spatial intervention and a conceptual extension of the theme, inviting engagement from the wider public and redefining the boundary between the school and the city.
The exhibition not only showcased completed design work but also highlighted the creative processes behind it. Through its curation, it foregrounded the iterative nature of architectural thinking - emphasizing development, revision, and reflection as integral parts of design practice. Visitors were invited to engage not just with finished outputs, but with the unfolding paths that brought them into being.
